Wolf’s individuality continues to shine as she introduces modern indie and alt-pop fans to 70s-era disco sounds and instruments. Euphoric horns continue to appear throughout the track, cementing its nostalgic sound. The juxtaposition of the old-school horns with the modern whistles and ringtones creates a perfect blend of summertime funk.

To complement the old-school sonics, the singer-songwriter freely dances around in a retro jazzercise bodysuit. Additionally, the pop of radiant colors and light melody reminds the listener of the musician’s inspiring eclectic nature and confidence. “Cinderella” has a beautifully airy tone that captures the essence of disco while grounded in modern production styles.

Contrary to the upbeat and lighthearted tone of the video and sound, the lyrics reach a deeper meaning about mental health and anxiety. The singer, who wrote and produced the track, explained that it is a “lyrical collage of the ups and downs and mood swings and transient lifestyle” she was experiencing while writing the album. Wolf notes that she used this track as a way to not only voice her struggles with mental health and confidence but also as a way to claim her control back.
