Strawberry Guy Live At Barnsdall Gallery Theatre

Wendy Rosales

Liverpool-based musician Alex Stephens, also known as Strawberry Guy, graced the stage at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Los Angeles. The artist delivered a captivating and melodic performance for two nights.

Strawberry Guy is a prodigy of the TikTok viral artists, his popularity surged with his 2019 hit “Mrs Magic” from the Taking My Time to Be EP. Unlike many viral TikTok artists, he has maintained strong support beyond the internet, consistently selling out his tour. Strawberry Guy recently released an EP that he recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studio to add orchestral strings to “Mrs Magic” and his debut single, “F Song,” originally written in his bedroom.

Experiencing his last show in LA exceeded expectations as a string quartet accompanied Stephens on stage. The feel for the new versions of his songs transcended live—performed with intimacy and fervor. The audience was remarkably respectful, creating a unique atmosphere where the only sounds were the subtle creaks of chair hinges.

Ending the night with gratitude, Stephens took the time to meet his fans and sign vinyls.
